A little about Samantha

Growing up in a family that values education, the importance of relationships and of treating everyone with respect and kindness, I have long been passionate about how to bring out the best in myself and in others.

Starting out as a lawyer I went on to work as a senior executive in some of Australia’s largest companies covering manufacturing, services, infrastructure and telecommunications. Roles have included leading teams focussed on risk management and internal audit, human resources, safety and sustainability, board level and governance issues and leadership and organisational improvement. In some roles I was required to work directly with the governing board of the organisation and I have also been a board member and chairperson in a not-for-profit context.

My experience working in complex strategic and people environments has given me considerable insight into the challenges that may face individual leaders and their teams, ways to build capabilities and achieve results, and importantly, how to enjoy the journey.

Learning how to lead successful teams and help individuals reach their full potential has been a cornerstone of my career. I have also learned that knowing what is needed is often not too difficult to figure out. But, knowing how to go about it can be the hardest and most stressful part. From experience I also know that this is where a trusted, independent adviser, coach, partner sharing the challenges, can play a crucial role.

Demanding jobs ask a lot of us and knowing what enables us to thrive contributes to our effectiveness. For me, time with family, the outdoors and being at my favourite beach always rejuvenates and helps me keep perspective. (I can’t name the beach because it’s too crowded already!) Taking a pragmatic and practical approach, I work with individuals and teams to help them achieve their work and personal goals, enabling them to live a more fulfilling life.
